Foam-Skin Insulation for Communication & Data Cable
A capability scenario for producing data and communication cable with foam-skin insulation and a low-smoke halogen-free jacket, combining LSZH compounds with a physical / chemical foaming line.
Challenge
- Hold consistent impedance and attenuation across long production runs
- Achieve a uniform foam-skin layer with tight dimensional control
- Meet low-smoke halogen-free requirements for riser and plenum routing
- Run thin walls and fine conductors at stable line speed
Materials and machinery, matched
LSZH supplies the low-smoke halogen-free sheathing and insulation compounds together with a physical / chemical foaming extrusion line and taping equipment. The compound and line are matched so foam structure, wall thickness and surface quality stay consistent, while the LSZH jacket addresses fire-safety routing requirements.
Materials used
HZDFR4100 thermoplastic LSZH for the jacket; XD2200 low-smoke halogen-free insulation. Shielding and wrapping auxiliary materials complete the construction.
Machinery used
Physical / chemical foaming extrusion line
Foam-skin insulation
Automatic PLC taping machine
Shielding and separation layers
